The origins of Faustino, one of the great names in Spanish winemaking and the Rioja's largest producer of estate-bottled Reserva and Gran Reserva wines, date back to the mid-1800s. With 1,625 acres of vineyards, Faustino's Reserva and Gran Reserva wines are all estate grown and bottled. The vineyards are located in the upper portion of the Rioja Alavesa, at an altitude of 1,200-1,800 feet. Here, the climate is relatively cool thanks to the maritime influence of the Atlantic Ocean to the north, and the vines thrive in the area's chalky soil. The Faustino V Reserva possesses lovely scents of hickory and red plum, clove and cocoa. It is a medium-bodied wine with flavors of ripe strawberries, cherries and raspberries with leather and cedar notes and a long, silky finish. You will find it to be a perfect complement to all types of meats, casseroles and mature, hard cheeses.
